I enjoyed reading this book, the first in a series about a mortal girl named Jude who lives in the world of Faerie. The book is full of intrigue, betrayal, romance, and action as Jude tries to find her place among the fey who despise and torment her. The author creates a vivid and complex world of magic and politics, where nothing is as it seems. The characters are well-developed and interesting, especially the cruel and charismatic Prince Cardan, who has a complicated relationship with Jude. The plot kept me on the edge of my seat with its speed and unpredictability as it took me on twists and-turns roller coaster. The writing style is engaging and descriptive, with a dark and atmospheric tone.
The book is not for the faint, as it contains violence, abuse, and mature themes. However, you might enjoy this book if you want a captivating and original fantasy story with a strong heroine and a hint of romance. I enjoyed it enough to give it 4 stars, and I’m eager to see what happens next in the series.
According to the publisher, the book is recommended for readers aged 14 and up. Younger readers might find some scenes disturbing or confusing. Parents should be aware of the content and use their discretion before letting their kids read this book.
