I was in tears when this book came to end. I could not take it that it ended. I just wished to stay in the residential area around those people.

Ove’s wife Sonja passed away due to cancer and Ove has already given up on life. Life has no purpose anymore. The only thing he wants to do is take his life and go to her beloved Sonja. But there was something or the other coming up every day from a neighbor who is a lousy driver, his pregnant foreign wife, old couple friends, youngsters working in the cafe, one adamant journalist, a cat who stayed outside his house, etc etc. They always had something for Ove pertaining which he had to delay his suicide plan each day which goes on for years until the day when death itself comes to take him.

There are fun elements carefully placed in the story. It’s an emotional story but certainly does not depress you. I admire Fredrick’s writing style and surely going to check out his other books.
